8.3 Excellent The Adidas Energy Boost 3 is neutral-cushioned runner that offers some great qualities in the Performance and Design category. Unfortunately, it has its pitfalls both in terms of its toe box as well as in the Price category as it's a bit overpriced!
The Adidas Energy Boost 3 is a neutral runner that offers a comfortable and springy ride to the wearer. It has an attractive design and features the Adidas Boost foam that provides incredible energy return while running. Adidas has been marketing it as a well-cushioned shoe that is suited for all types of running, both short and long.
Adidas Energy Boost 3 Performance
The upper of this Adidas shoe is very attractive and fashionable. The lace style is a flat one, and there are thick plastic overlays looping into the laces. The lacing system also features a rubberized printed pattern that makes the upper more stylish. The synthetic overlays have the Adidas logo on both the medial and lateral side of the upper. The external heel counter is very well designed, sturdy enough, and gives a snug fit to the wearer. The plastic over the band aims to hold the heel part together and makes it stronger. There is a pull tab at the back of the heel counter and has the words ‘energy’ printed on it. The upper also features a TechFit technology which provides a seamless and sock-like fit to the wearer. It makes the shoe more comfortable and flexible, and the strobel-lasting material of the upper keeps the underfoot soft and plush. During testing, we sometimes did notice the toebox to be a bit constrictive and causing rubbing against the fabric.
The outsole is designed to deliver flexibility and stability to the foot. It features an Adiwear technology that protects the foot from abrasion. This technology also protects the shoe from wear and tear due to rigorous running. The sole unit of this shoe can be termed stiff and springy as it contains the Adidas Boost Foam. This foam provides high energy return and protects the shoe from undergoing deformation. To keep the foot in a neutral mode, Adidas has used some EVA foam too around the rim of the midsole. There are two plastic runners along the outer portion of the outsole and one plastic runner that goes along the medial side of the outsole.
Adidas Energy Boost 3 Design
The design of this Adidas shoe is just perfect as it can accommodate comfortably according to the shape of the foot. The forefoot, midfoot, and heel, all are in the standard size. The rim and midsole design are almost the same as the previous model except for the lasting material on the midsole that is changed on the EB3. The chafing in the toe-box is a bit problematic, and the lacing system does not provide a snug fit either. It is available in a few color options, and thus it does not go well with all types of situations. Overall, this is one the best looking runners we’ve ever seen!
Adidas Energy Boost 3 Price
At $160, the Adidas Energy Boost 3 is an expensive running shoe. Some of the features, such as the Adidas Boost Foam are one of those that add up to the worth so there is definitely some technology in the shoe. Regarding cushioning, these shoes feature super innovation, but with all these features there are other shoes that have a lesser price range than this one and would still offer a cushioned neutral ride.
